Bring Your Child to Work Day 2027 is Thursday, April 22, 2027. It always falls on the fourth Thursday of April, and has been held each spring in the US since 1993. Since 2025 its official name is Take a Child to Work Day and Beyond, led by Junior Achievement, though many companies still call it Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
April feels far away in the fall. It isn't. Rooms, legal approvals, and someone's calendar all need to line up first, and the companies that run a good day usually start deciding in the fall and winter before.
A planning timeline that works backwards from April 22
6–8 weeks before (late February to early March). Name one internal owner. Estimate how many children are coming, how old they are, and how many adults will be with them. Reserve a room with real floor space. Start legal, consent, and photo approvals for children on site.
2–4 weeks before (late March to early April). Confirm registration and whether sessions need to repeat. Confirm who is running each session and schedule any training. Send the family invitation, and plan a quiet space and an easy exit.
The week of. Reconfirm counts and room access. Clear cables and test the sound. Brief support staff on exits, photos, and family needs.
After the event. Ask two questions: did you bring your child, and would you come again? Keep the answers next to registration and attendance. Those numbers are what next year's ask is built on.
The families most likely to sit the day out
Job shadowing, a panel, a tour of the floor: a ten-year-old can do all of it. A three-year-old will enjoy one, then need something different.
So parents of the youngest kids read the invite, picture the meeting room, and keep the childcare they already booked. Adding one short session for babies through age seven gives them a reason to come, without changing the day you already run.
